TOPIC: DEATH IN THE POT

TEXT: 2 Kings 4:40

MEMORY VERSE:

"But as they were eating of the pottage, they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot." — 2 Kings 4:40

Many Christians are busy binding witches while dining with death.

Some are rebuking demons at midnight but inviting hypertension to breakfast.

Others are casting out devils while swallowing sugar like a vacuum cleaner.

You are sweet enough abeg!!, Eat less sugar

The sons of the prophets in Elisha's day did not invite assassins into their camp. They simply cooked their own problem. The enemy did not need to attack them; they almost poisoned themselves.

Many people are praying against arrows from the village while manufacturing missiles in their kitchens.

The tragedy of our generation is not merely "death in the village"; it is "death in the pot."

😂 THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THE STOMACH

Some believers can quote the entire Book of Revelation but cannot identify vegetables.

They know the seven churches of Asia but do not know the seven dangers of excessive soft drinks.

A brother can fast for 40 days but cannot drink eight glasses of water.

A sister rebukes the spirit of infirmity every morning but eats enough fried food to supply a small nation.

When the doctor says, "Reduce your sugar," they reply, "I reject it!"

My friend, you can reject prophecy, but your pancreas is not a Pentecostal member. It responds to biology.

Death in the pot does not answer prayer requests.

💡 LESSON ONE: NOT EVERY HUNGER IS SPIRITUAL

Many people think every stomach sound is a call to fasting.

Sometimes your body is not asking for deliverance.

It is asking for breakfast.

Elijah prayed fire down from heaven, but afterwards God fed him.

Even angels knew that a hungry prophet needed food.

Some believers would have rebuked the angel and continued fasting.

God is wondering, "Who sent you?"

😂 Imagine a man who has not eaten for three days because he wants to become powerful.

On the fourth day, he sees three angels, four goats, six chickens, and a talking loaf of bread.

That is not revelation.

That is starvation.

💡 LESSON TWO: YOUR STOMACH IS NOT A DUSTBIN

Many people treat their stomach like a refuse container.

Everything enters.

Morning: Soft drink.

Afternoon: Energy drink.

Evening: Fried food.

Midnight: Prayer meeting refreshments.

Then they wonder why their body is holding a protest.

Your stomach was designed to process food, not punishments.

Even a generator requires proper fuel.

If you pour palm oil into a motorcycle, don't blame witches when it refuses to move.

Likewise, if you feed your body rubbish, don't call a prayer conference every weekend.

💡 LESSON THREE: SOME PEOPLE ARE DIGGING THEIR GRAVES WITH GOLDEN SPOONS

Not every death is caused by enemies.

Some are sponsored by appetite.

One man spends money on medicine because he refuses to control his mouth.

His tongue has become chairman of his destiny.

The doctor says:

"Reduce salt."

He adds more.

"Reduce sugar."

He increases it.

"Exercise."

He says, "The Lord is my strength."

Indeed, the Lord is your strength, but He did not say your sofa is your ministry.

💡 LESSON FOUR: EXCESSIVE SPIRITUALITY CAN BECOME CARNALITY

Some believers are competing in suffering.

If one pastor fasts seven days, another wants fourteen.

If one fasts fourteen, another attempts thirty.

Soon they are fasting because of competition, not conviction.

Jesus fasted forty days and returned in power.

Some people fast three days and return in anger.

They are annoyed with everybody because their stomach has become an empty cathedral.

God is not impressed by self-inflicted punishment.

He desires obedience more than unnecessary suffering.

✨ THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Many believers are fighting demons while feeding diseases.

🙏 PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, deliver me from every form of ignorance that brings death into my pot.

2. Lord, grant me wisdom to care for the body You have given me.

3. Every poison of carelessness operating in my life, be destroyed in Jesus' name.

4. Father, help me to live long enough to complete my divine assignment.

5. I declare: There shall be no death in my pot, my body, my family, and my ministry.

🔑 ACTION POINT

Before praying against witches today, inspect your refrigerator, your plate, your habits, and your lifestyle.

Sometimes the miracle you need is not another prayer mountain—it is a bottle of water, a balanced meal, adequate sleep, and simple obedience.

🔚 CONCLUSION

The devil is dangerous, but sometimes our appetite is his greatest assistant.

Many people fear poison from enemies while lovingly preparing it for themselves three times a day.

Remember: the same God who anoints your head expects you to use wisdom over your stomach.

There is no crown for dying carelessly.

There is no reward for destroying the vessel that carries the anointing.

May there be no more death in your pot, in Jesus' Name.
