FINDING STRENGHT IN WILDERNESS

🌿 MOMENT OF ENCOUNTER DEVOTIONAL

By Prophet Dr. Abiodun Adesida

Topic: The Psychology of Isolation

Anchor Scripture:

“And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.”

— Mark 1:13

🔍 Devotional Message

One of the greatest fears of modern people is not lions, snakes, or even NEPA taking light during an important football match. It is being left alone.

Some people cannot stay five minutes without checking WhatsApp. If nobody likes their Facebook post after ten minutes, they begin to wonder whether they have backslidden! Others believe heaven has rejected them simply because their phone has become quieter than a monastery.

Yet, in God's Kingdom, isolation is not punishment—it is preparation.

God has a curious habit. Before He promotes a man publicly, He often hides him privately. Heaven seems to have only one training academy for greatness, and its address is “The Wilderness.”

While people are busy chasing platforms, God is busy building pillars.

1️⃣ Stripping Away False Identity: Who Are You Without the Microphone?

Isolation removes uniforms, titles, applause, and followers.

Suddenly, nobody calls you "General Overseer." Nobody introduces you as "Chief Executive Officer." Even the neighbours simply say, “That man who rarely comes out.”

It is then God asks the uncomfortable question:

“Without your title, who are you?”

Moses lost the palace before finding God's presence.

Jacob lost everyone around him before receiving a new name.

Sometimes God disconnects you from public applause so you can reconnect with His approval.

Truth: God is not impressed by your introduction. He is interested in your transformation.

---

2️⃣ Confrontation With Self: The Most Difficult Meeting Is Meeting Yourself

Many believers say,

“The devil is fighting me.”

Sometimes the devil replies,

“Please leave me out of this one. You are arguing with yourself.”

Isolation is like God's spiritual mirror.

Without noise, entertainment, meetings, and endless notifications, you begin hearing conversations that have been hiding inside your heart.

Hidden fears appear.

Old wounds speak.

Pride introduces itself.

Unforgiveness clears its throat.

This is where many run back to the crowd because silence tells uncomfortable truths.

Yet healing begins where honesty begins.

Elijah entered isolation exhausted and discouraged, but he left hearing the still small voice of God.

---

3️⃣ Divine Recalibration: Heaven's Spiritual Workshop

In a noisy world, God often whispers.

Isolation reduces the volume of people so you can increase the volume of God.

Prayer stops becoming a religious activity and becomes a lifeline.

Bible reading changes from searching for sermons to searching for God.

You no longer pray because your church programme says, “Prayer starts at 6:00.”

You pray because your soul says,

“Lord, if You don't speak, I have nowhere else to go.”

Paul disappeared into Arabia before appearing before nations.

Sometimes disappearing is part of divine strategy.

---

4️⃣ Transition: The Cave Is Not Your Final Address

Never mistake hiddenness for abandonment.

David looked forgotten while chasing sheep.

Joseph looked forgotten while sitting in prison.

Jesus looked forgotten in the wilderness.

Yet Heaven was writing history while earth thought nothing was happening.

Remember this humorous truth:

Microwave miracles are attractive, but God usually prefers slow cooking.

Anyone can warm food in two minutes.

Only patience produces rich flavour.

God is less interested in making you famous than making you faithful.

So don't resign from the cave before graduation day.

The same cave that hides you today may become tomorrow's testimony.

⚔️ Prophetic Insight

The silence of isolation may sound like rejection, but it is actually divine selection.

The wilderness is God's university.

The tuition fee is patience.

The classroom is silence.

The Lecturer is the Holy Spirit.

And nobody graduates without passing the examination of waiting.

Notice the pattern:

- Jeremiah was separated.

- John the Baptist grew in the wilderness.

- Daniel matured in exile.

- Joseph was trained in prison.

- Moses in Midian.

- Jesus in the wilderness.

God has never changed His recruitment process.

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for every hidden season of my life. Teach me to value solitude as Your classroom rather than my prison. When I feel forgotten, remind me that I am being fashioned for greater assignments. Give me grace to wait without complaining, to worship without an audience, and to obey without applause. Let my private victories prepare me for public usefulness. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

💭 Quote to Remember

“If God has hidden you, don't panic. Heaven is not rejecting your file—it is still editing your story.”

— Prophet Dr. Abiodun Adesida

🕊 Final Charge

Never despise seasons when the phone is quiet.

Never conclude that silence means absence.

Sometimes God removes the crowd because He wants your full attention.

Your cave is not your coffin.

Your wilderness is not your obituary.

Your isolation is not your termination.

It is Heaven's construction site.

Stay faithful. Stay joyful. Stay available.

The God who prepares in private always reveals in public.

Your brother,

Prophet Dr. Abiodun Adesida
