MOMENT OF ENCOUNTER DEVOTIONAL
By Prophet Dr. Abiodun Adesida
I Will Counsel You With My Loving Eyes
Anchor Text: Psalm 32:8
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
One of the greatest inventions in Africa is not jollof rice, not generators, and certainly not WhatsApp family groups. It is the African Mother's Eye Language.
That language needs no dictionary, no interpreter, and no university degree.
A mother can be preaching in church, talking to visitors, stirring soup, and still use her eyes to tell her child:
“Don't touch that meat.”
“Drop that phone.”
“Sit down before I help you sit down.”
And somehow, the child understands every sentence!
Visitors may wonder, "What happened?" But the child has already received a complete sermon, prophecy, warning, and disciplinary notice—all through one glance.
When I first read Psalm 32:8, I smiled and thought, “Lord, You sound exactly like an African parent.”
God says, “I will counsel you with My eye upon you.”
In other words, God does not always use thunder, earthquakes, angelic trumpets, or a prophet shouting, "Thus saith the Lord!" Sometimes He simply looks your way and expects you to understand.
The challenge is not that God is silent; the challenge is that many believers have become spiritually nearsighted.
Some people want God to write instructions in the sky before they obey.
Meanwhile, God is saying:
“My child, I have already been giving signals. You just haven't been paying attention.”
Why Does God Guide Us With His Eyes?
1. Because Relationship Is Better Than Remote Control
People who communicate through eye contact are usually close to each other.
God's eye upon us is proof that He is not a distant ruler but a loving Father.
He is close enough to guide, protect, correct, and direct.
2. Because Sensitivity Is a Kingdom Requirement
Anyone can hear a trumpet.
But it takes maturity to discern a whisper.
God wants His children to become spiritually sensitive enough to recognize His direction through Scripture, inner conviction, circumstances, and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
3. Because Trust Grows in Silence
When God explains everything, faith is unnecessary.
Sometimes He simply says, “Follow Me.”
His eyes see tomorrow even when ours can barely see the next bend in the road.
4. Because Love Leads Better Than Fear
God is not a harsh taskmaster carrying a heavenly cane.
He guides with compassion, patience, and tenderness.
His correction flows from love, not irritation.
Even when He redirects us, His eyes communicate grace.
Biblical Examples of God's Silent Guidance
Elijah at Horeb
Elijah expected God in the dramatic manifestations of wind, earthquake, and fire.
Instead, God appeared in a gentle whisper.
Sometimes the loudest voice from heaven arrives quietly.
The Pillar of Cloud and Fire
The Israelites received direction without daily speeches.
The cloud moved, they moved.
The cloud stopped, they stopped.
Simple obedience produced supernatural guidance.
Jesus and Peter
After Peter denied Jesus, the Lord merely looked at him.
That look carried conviction, mercy, forgiveness, and restoration all at once.
One glance accomplished what a thousand lectures could not.
Joseph in Egypt
God did not narrate every step of Joseph's journey.
Yet through dreams, favor, and circumstances, God was carefully positioning him for destiny.
Paul's Macedonian Vision
A simple vision redirected an entire missionary movement.
One divine signal changed history.
Lessons for Us Today
Stay Close
You cannot read God's eyes from a distance.
Prayer, worship, and the Word keep us close enough to discern His heart.
Stay Alert
Not every instruction comes with a microphone.
Pay attention to the subtle ways God speaks.
Trust His Leadership
Even when heaven seems quiet, God's eyes remain fixed on you.
The God who sees the end from the beginning has not lost your address.
Closing Reflection
Perhaps the greatest tragedy is not that God refuses to speak.
It is that many believers are waiting for a heavenly loudspeaker while ignoring the loving gaze of their Father.
God's eyes are upon you today.
He sees your struggles, your prayers, your unanswered questions, your hidden tears, and your future victories.
And with the tenderness of a loving Father and the precision of an African mother, He says:
“My child, keep watching Me. I know the way.”
Prayer Declaration
Father, thank You because Your loving eyes are continually upon me. Open my spiritual understanding to discern Your guidance. Help me to remain close to You, attentive to Your leading, and confident in Your direction. I choose to trust Your gaze even when I cannot trace Your hand. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Your Brother,

A person who learns to read God's eyes will rarely miss God's road. Many are praying for a miracle, while God is already giving directions. The miracle often begins when the direction is obeyed.
