MOMENT OF ENCOUNTER TODAY

By Prophet Dr. Abiodun Adesida

SERIES:

THE STUPIDITY OF THE HUMAN RACE (Part 1)

TOPIC:

THE DAY YOU GIVE UP ON YOURSELF, SATAN APPLAUDS!

TEXT:

«"For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief."
— Proverbs 24:16 (KJV)»

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

There is one comedy that Heaven never laughs at—it is when a man attends his own funeral while he is still alive.

How?

By giving up on himself.

Imagine a farmer who throws away his hoe because one season refused to produce yam. Or a tailor who burns his sewing machine because one customer complained. Ridiculous!

Yet many people do something even more foolish.

One failed business...
One broken relationship...
One examination...
One mistake...
One disappointment...

...and they conclude,

«"My life is finished."»

Who told you that?

Beloved, failure is an event, not an identity.

God never called anyone because they had a perfect past. He called them because He had a glorious future for them.

The devil is a terrible motivational speaker. His favourite sermon is:

"You have failed. Sit down. Cover yourself. Hide. Don't try again."

But Heaven's message is different:

"Get up! Wash your face! Adjust your crown! We still have work to do."

CASE STUDY 1:

JUDAS ISCARIOT — THE MAN WHO RESIGNED BEFORE THE INTERVIEW WAS OVER

(Matthew 27:3–5)

Judas made a terrible mistake.

But his greatest tragedy was not betrayal.

His greatest tragedy was believing his mistake was greater than God's mercy.

Peter denied Jesus three times.

Judas betrayed Him once.

Peter cried.

Judas quit.

Peter returned.

Judas hanged himself.

Both failed.

Only one believed restoration was possible.

Never let one chapter convince you that your entire book has ended.

CASE STUDY 2:

ELIJAH — THE PROPHET WHO CALLED FIRE BUT COULDN'T HANDLE ONE WOMAN'S LETTER

(1 Kings 19:4)

This part always makes me smile.

Yesterday, Elijah challenged over 450 prophets of Baal.

Today...

One message from Jezebel...

...and the same prophet ran into the wilderness shouting,

«"Lord, let me die!"»

Elijah, really?

You never built a house.

You never bought land.

You never married.

No wife to disturb your sleep.

No children's school fees.

No landlord knocking.

No bank loan.

No fuel scarcity.

Yet you wanted to resign from life!

Sometimes we become tired not because God has abandoned us, but because we have listened to fear for too long.

God ignored Elijah's resignation letter.

Instead of sending death, God sent food.

Instead of a coffin, God sent fresh assignment.

When Heaven still has work for you, discouragement cannot cancel your destiny.

CASE STUDY 3:

THE PRODIGAL SON — THE MAN WHO DISCOVERED THAT HOME WAS NEVER CLOSED

(Luke 15:11–24)

This young man converted inheritance into history.

He invested family wealth into strangers.

He sponsored pigs while starving himself.

What a poor investment strategy!

But one sentence changed everything:

«"He came to himself."»

Deliverance begins the day you recover your senses.

The father was not waiting with a cane.

He was waiting with an embrace.

That is the heart of God.

If you can return, God can restore.

SIGNS THAT YOU HAVE STARTED GIVING UP ON YOURSELF

- You constantly speak against your own future.
- You believe your yesterday is stronger than God's tomorrow.
- You isolate yourself from people who genuinely love you.
- You abandon your dreams because progress seems slow.
- You begin to believe that nothing good can ever happen again.

Remember:

The loudest lies are often whispered by discouragement.

WHY GIVING UP IS DANGEROUS

Giving up...

- makes you abandon the miracle that may be one step away.
- gives the devil a victory he never earned.
- buries gifts that Heaven invested in you.
- prevents restoration before it arrives.
- insults the grace of God, which is greater than every human failure.

As long as there is breath in your lungs, there is still purpose in your life.

HOW TO RISE AGAIN

1. Remember that falling is not the end.

Micah 7:8 reminds us that the righteous rise again.

2. Believe God's mercy is greater than your mistakes.

No failure is stronger than Calvary.

3. Stop listening to hopeless voices.

Walk with people who remind you of God's promises.

4. Take one more step.

You don't need to finish the journey today, just refuse to stop walking.

5. Pray until strength returns.

Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31).

REFLECTION

Ask yourself honestly:

- Have I been speaking hopelessness over my own life?
- Am I allowing one failure to define my future?
- Do I truly believe God has not finished with me?

PRAYER

Father, thank You because You have never abandoned me. I reject every voice of hopelessness and every lie that says my life is over. I receive fresh strength, fresh courage, and fresh grace to rise again. Let every failure become a testimony and every disappointment become a stepping stone to destiny. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

TAKEAWAY

Never write your obituary while God is still writing your testimony.

If God has not given up on you, why should you give up on yourself?

Rise again.

The story is not over.
