MOMENT OF ENCOUNTER DEVOTIONAL
By Prophet Dr. Abiodun Adesida
*Topic: When God Tiptoes Away from a Man*
(The Tragedy of Divine Silent Walkaway)
Text: 1 Kings 22:24
«"Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, 'Which way did the Spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?'"»
*Devotional Message*
There are many frightening things in life.
A bank alert that turns out to be a debit alert.
A phone call that begins with, "Where are you?"
A spouse who says, "We need to talk."
But none of these compares with the terrifying reality of a man who is still talking for God after God has stopped talking to him.
Welcome to the ministry of Prophet Zedekiah—the Chairman of the Association of Empty Microphones.
The man was preaching, prophesying, gesticulating, perspiring, and manufacturing prophetic sound effects. Yet Heaven had already vacated the premises.
When Micaiah arrived with the authentic message from God, Zedekiah became irritated and slapped him.
Then he asked one of the most tragic questions in Scripture:
«"Which way did the Spirit of the Lord go from me to speak to you?"»
In modern language, he was saying:
"If God left me, when did He relocate?"
The painful truth was this: God had already tiptoed away, but Zedekiah was still conducting business as usual.
His title remained.
His uniform remained.
His audience remained.
Only God was missing.
He was still functioning but no longer flowing.
Still performing but no longer possessing divine approval.
Still making noise but no longer carrying heaven's voice.
Many people notice when God arrives.
Few notice when He quietly leaves.
God rarely slams the door on His way out.
Sometimes He simply tiptoes away.
📖 Biblical Hall of Fame of Men God Walked Away From
1. Samson ; Strength Without Spirit
Judges 16:20
«"But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him."»
Samson's greatest tragedy was not losing his hair.
Barbers can fix that.
His tragedy was losing God's presence while thinking he was still spiritually dangerous.
The man woke up expecting another episode of "Samson the Destroyer" only to discover Heaven had canceled the subscription.
*Lesson:*
Repeated compromise can make a giant become a joke.
Never play with temptation and expect the anointing to remain untouched.
2. King Saul ; Position Without Presence
1 Samuel 16:14
«"But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul..."»
Saul wanted to impress people more than obey God.
He preferred popularity over purity.
He chose applause over approval.
Eventually God said,
"If the crowd is your god, let the crowd guide you."
*Lesson:*
When public opinion becomes louder than divine instruction, God's presence begins to withdraw.
3. Zedekiah ; Prophecy Without Connection
1 Kings 22:24
He was so disconnected from God that he slapped the only man carrying the authentic message.
Imagine rejecting Wi-Fi and then arguing with the person who still has internet access.
That was Zedekiah.
*Lesson:*
Never become so confident in your spirituality that you stop examining your heart.
Pride often announces itself just before God exits quietly.
4. Ichabod : Religion Without Glory
1 Samuel 4:21
«"The glory has departed from Israel."»
The temple was standing.
The priests were functioning.
The rituals were continuing.
The choir was singing.
The garments were shining.
But the glory had packed its bags.
Everything looked religious, but nothing was alive.
*Lesson:*
A church can have activities without authority.
Programs without presence.
Crowds without Christ.
When reverence dies, glory departs.
5. Judas Iscariot ,; Ministry Without Relationship
Matthew 26:24
Judas attended every conference Jesus organized.
He sat in every Bible study.
He witnessed every miracle.
Yet his heart was rented out to greed.
He kissed the Door of Heaven and still walked toward destruction.
*Lesson:*
Being around Jesus is not the same as belonging to Jesus.
Proximity is not intimacy.
Activity is not relationship.
🚨 Signs That God May Be Quietly Walking Away
- The Word no longer corrects you.
- Prayer feels like a punishment.
- You are always talking but never listening.
- Correction irritates you.
- Your ego grows while your devotion shrinks.
- Applause excites you more than God's presence.
- You are successful publicly but empty privately.
- You know church language but have lost kingdom life
🙏 Prayer
Father, never allow me to become a spiritual celebrity with a departed glory. Let me not continue moving when You have stopped leading. Search me, examine me, correct me, and keep me near Your heart. May I never confuse religious activity with divine intimacy. Let Your Spirit remain with me until the very end. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
🔑 Key Point
«It is better to be a hidden servant carrying God's presence than a famous minister carrying only a microphone.»
